New Turnstile Blues Out Monday - Ipswich Town News

The 20th issue of Town fanzine Turnstile Blues, which will be launched at the Swansea game on Monday, bids farewell to the Championship with a montage of images from the last 17 years on the front and back covers, depicting those who've made it memorable - whether for good, bad or simply bizarre reasons.

Inside, there's a look back over Town's years in the second tier, which tries and fails to avoid comparisons with Brexit.

There's also some analysis of the decisions which have shaped the Championship years - for better or worse - and of off-field mistakes by the club's ownership, as well as a look at recent efforts to re-engage the club with its support.

Looking both backwards and forwards, there's an interview with a remarkable 83-year-old Town fan who continues to follow the team both home and away - having watched Ipswich for 70 years, he's one of the people who can recall the last time the club played at the third tier of English football.

Elsewhere in the fanzine, there's a more frivolous (and not necessarily reliable) look at what Town fans can expect to find in League One.

In the wider world of football, the new issue contains some thoughts on the impact of Financial Fair Play (spoiler alert - it hasn't necessarily worked in the way that was intended), and a look at the disturbing number of recent incidents of racism in the game.

Turnstile Blues 20 will be on sale around Portman Road from about 2.15pm prior to the Swansea game, priced £1. Sir Alf's statue is a good place to find sellers. If you can't make it to the game, keep an eye on the fanzine's Twitter feed (@Turnstile_Blue) for details of how to order copies online.
