U18s Beaten By Owls in Play-Off - Ipswich Town News
Town’s U18s were beaten 1-0 by Sheffield Wednesday in their Professional Development League Two play-off semi-final at Hillsborough earlier today.
Owls midfielder Conor Grant scored the only goal of a close game from the penalty spot in the 34th minute after Town striker Tyreece Simpson had felled right-back Josh Dawudo.
Despite the defeat, the young Blues, who are coached by Adem Atay and Kieron Dyer, will look back on a successful season in which they finished second in their league despite a number of players progressing into the U23s and, in Idris El Mizouni’s case, into the first team.
The U23s, who won their division, are in action against Birmingham City in their play-off semi-final at Portman Road on Tuesday (KO 7pm).
U18s: Egan, O'Reilly, Clements, Cutbush, Fehrenbach, Smith, K Brown, Scott, Z Brown, Dobra, Simpson.
