Sears Wins Town Goal of the Season - Ipswich Town News

Freddie Sears’s goal at Aston Villa in January was named the Town Goal of the Season at last night’s End-of-Season Dinner at Milsoms, Kesgrave Hall.

Sears lashed home from the edge of the box after a well-worked passing move from deep in the Blues’ own half.

The goal pulled the scoreline back to 2-1 but Town, who were denied a very strong shout for a penalty, were unable to take a point from the game.

Sears subsequently joined Town’s long injury list when he suffered a ACL injury at Norwich.

Also among the awards handed out last night was the Young Player of the Year gong which went to Jack Lankester.

Skipper Luke Chambers won the Corporate Customers’ Player of the Season, while tribute was also paid to the central defender’s all-round contribution to Town both on and off the pitch. Chambers was named the Supporters Player of the Year at last month’s Player Awards Evening.

Cole Skuse was named Town's PFA Community Champion having been involved in a number of projects during the season.

The fans were also lauded with 10 supporters guests of the club at the event, among them Phil Taylor, who recently celebrated 25 years without missing a Town fixture home or away, to whom a presentation was made.

"It was a nice gesture from the club and a great night,” he told the club site. "I’d also like to thank all those involved in organising my presentation. It was very much appreciated.”

Manager Paul Lambert spoke from the stage with host Terry Butcher, as did academy coaches Gerard Nash and Chris Hogg, whose U23s side topped Professional Development League Two, and U18s coach Adem Atay, whose team finished second in their equivalent division.

No Players' Player or Manager's Choice awards were given out this season.

To mark the superb support #itfc have received this season, the Club invited 10 fans as guests to last night's End of Season dinner.

A presentation was also made to Phil Taylor, who has not missed a Town game, home or away, in 25 years.
