Hull Linked With Blues Winger Edwards - Ipswich Town News

Hull City are reported to be keen on adding Blues winger Gwion Edwards to their squad this summer.

According to HITC Sport, the Tigers are among a number of Championship clubs to have been alerted by the Welshman’s performances for Town since his move from Peterborough last summer for a fee understood to be in the region of £700,000.

Edwards, 26, made 25 starts and nine sub appearances, scoring six goals, in what was an up and down first season in the Championship hampered by injuries during spells.

The former Swansea trainee, who has been called up by Wales on a number of occasions but without winning a cap so far, is contracted until the summer of 2020 with the club having an option for a further season.

While Town, who are facing a £9 million drop in revenue in League One, may well consider interest in their players should it come over the summer, manager Paul Lambert insisted last week that no one would be allowed to leave for a cut-price fee.

"People have got to want your players,” he said when asked if players might have to be sold to fund new additions. "If you think people are going to go out of here on the cheap, no chance, no chance.

"I won’t allow it to happen and whoever comes in has to be better than the ones that go, that’s key.”
