There are still a few tickets available for Friday's Kevin Beattie Memorial Fundraiser at Gainsborough Labour Club which is being hosted by Mark Murphy with all cash raised going to The Beat Goes On, the campaign for a statue of the Blues legend.
There will be a live singer, disco, raffle and auction at the event with tickets costing £5 for adults and £1 for children available at the club, where Beattie was a regular for many years, or by phone via 07810 480622 or 07903 887853.
Among the large number of items up for auction are a framed white Town shirt signed by Beattie Russell Osman, Mick Mills and John Wark, and a home strip worn and signed by Richard Naylor against Bolton Wanderers during the 1998/99 season.
Led by the EADT and Ipswich Star in conjunction with BBC Radio Suffolk and TWTD, The Beat Goes On was launched on December 18th last year on what would have been Beattie’s 65th birthday.
The current target is £110,000, although it is hoped that figure will be reduced as the campaign progresses, with £49,000 already having been raised.
