Town and Pompey Linked With Motherwell Midfielder - Ipswich Town News
Town and Portsmouth are reported to be showing interest in Motherwell’s Spanish midfielder Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, who is out of contract at the end of the month.
According to Football Insider, the 25-year-old is set to leave Fir Park on a free transfer after one season at the Scottish Premiership side with the Blues and Pompey both keen.
Rodriguez Gorrin, who impressed during 2018/19 in a deep central midfield role, was with local side Tenerife as a youngster before joining Sunderland’s youth set-up.
Having failed to make a first-team breakthrough at the Stadium of Light, spells in New Zealand with the Wellington Phoenix, in Portugal with Boavista and in Romania with Spesi Sfantu Gheorghe followed before his move to Scotland last summer.
In total, Rodriguez Gorrin (pictured above in his days with the Black Cats) made 17 starts and seven sub appearances for Motherwell without scoring and achieved the highest number of interceptions, 9.75 per game, in Europe during 2018/19.
Previously he has been linked with a move to the Championship with Blackburn, Millwall, Wigan and Bristol City all said to be interested.
