Town to Face Fortuna at Four-Team Pre-Season Tournament - Ipswich Town News

Town will face sister club Fortuna Düsseldorf at their four-team pre-season tournament, the Interwetten Cup, in Meppen on the German-Dutch border on Sunday 14th July the club has confirmed.

The Blues will take on Fortuna, whose fans have become a regular sight at Portman Road over the last decade with Town supporters also having made the trip to watch the Bundesliga side, in a 2pm kick-off at the Hänsch-Arena with the games lasting 45 minutes and going to penalties if the scores are level at full-time.

The other two teams in the competition, Dutch club FC Utrecht and German third-tier side and hosts SV Meppen, will play one another at 3pm.

The two losing teams will take part in a third-place play-off at 4pm with the winners meeting in the final at 5pm.

Town and Fortuna previously met in a pre-season friendly at the Paul-Janes-Stadion in the summer of 2015 when the German team won 4-3.

Tickets for the Interwetten Cup are now available here with Town fans advised to buy standing tickets in the ExxonMobil grandstand and seating in the KiKxxl grandstand in blocks K and L. ""Town are looking at providing travel packages to Germany with details to follow.

The Blues also play a friendly in Germany the previous weekend when they face newly-promoted Bundesliga team Paderborn in Steinhagen near Bielefeld.
