Judge and El Mizouni Could Win Caps - Ipswich Town News

Blues pair Alan Judge and Idris El Mizouni could win international caps later today.

Judge’s Republic of Ireland are in action against Denmark in Copenhagen in a Euro 2020 qualifier (Sky Sports Main Event, 7.30pm).

The 30-year-old will be looking to win his sixth cap and to add to his one international goal, while former Town striker David McGoldrick and midfielder Conor Hourihane are also in the squad, which faces Gibraltar in another qualifier in Dublin on Monday.

The Blues’ director of football, Dave Bowman, is part of the backroom team and is likely to be on the bench alongside ex-Town boss Mick McCarthy, his assistant Terry Connor and fitness coach Andy Liddell.

Left-back Jonas Knudsen, who is set to leave Portman Road when his contract is up at the end of the month, is not in the Danish party having been omitted from the final squad due to his lack of match action with the Blues in the last few months of the season.

"Elsewhere, midfielder El Mizouni will make his full international debut if he is involved in Tunisia’s home friendly against Iraq in Rades this evening.

It’s the first time the 18-year-old academy product has been called into the senior squad having previously won two caps for Tunisia’s U23s Olympic side, scoring once.

El Mizouni, who was born in France but qualifies for Tunisia via his father, enjoyed an impressive 2018/19 with Town progressing from the U18s into the U23s and then into the first team, making one start and three sub appearances.

If he plays against the Iraqis he will become the first Town player to have won a cap with Tunisia.

Meanwhile, striker Aaron Drinan won his third Republic of Ireland U21s cap last night as his side drew 0-0 with Mexico at the Maurice Revello Toulon Tournament.

Drinan, who is on loan back at his former club Waterford, came on as an 83rd minute sub, having similarly been introduced late on during the 4-1 defeat of China in their opening match. Ireland, currently top of their group, face Bahrain on Sunday.

The 21-year-old, who has scored seven times in the League of Ireland with the season running through the summer, is contracted to Town until the summer of 2021.
