Paderborn Friendly to Switch Venue for Second Time - Ipswich Town News
Town’s opening pre-season friendly against newly-promoted Bundesliga side Paderborn on Saturday 6th July is set to switch venue for a second time.
The game was originally to be staged at Biekra Sportpark in Bielefeld before it was moved to the Cronsbachstadion in Steinhagen.
However, Paderborn are now looking for a third venue for the match in the Paderborn-Bielefeld area with their own home ground, the Benteler-Arena, not being used for pre-season matches.
The latest move is down to police concerns regarding security at the Cronsbachstadion with there being no way of segregating fans.
Last week Paderborn’s proposed friendly against Norwich City, which was due to be played in Geseke on July 16th, fell through but the Town game is still expected to go ahead once a new venue has been arranged.
