Town Confirm Bialkowski Enquiries - Ipswich Town News

Town’s general manager of football operations Lee O’Neill has confirmed that the Blues have received "a number of enquiries" regarding keeper Bartosz Bialkowski and also for other players.

Millwall are understood to be frontrunners for the Polish international, while Birmingham are also believed to have renewed last summer’s interest, however, manager Garry Monk’s departure yesterday may well have an impact on their summer transfer thinking.

""Naturally there is going to be a lot of interest in Bart. He’s been one of our best players for a number of years,” O’Neill told iFollow Ipswich.

"""We’ve had a number of enquiries for him - and for other players as well. We are not going to let any player go though unless it’s right for the club.""

"We have looked at other keepers out there if Bart does go - and we also have two young keepers in Harry Wright and Adam Przybek, who will have the chance to impress the manager - but at the moment Bart is an Ipswich Town player and will be back with us for pre-season training next week.”

""The Blues, who signed former Gillingham man Tomas Holy last month while youngster Adam Przybek was recruited after leaving West Brom following a trial, have spoken to QPR keeper Matt Ingram, while Bolton’s Remi Matthews is another of their potential new recruits should Bialkowski move on.

Town are understood to be willing to consider bids for Bialkowski, who is the highest-paid player at Portman Road following the bumper new deal he signed last year after returning from duty with Poland at the World Cup finals in Russia.

That new contract followed the Blues' refusal of a £3 million offer from Birmingham for the former Notts County and Southampton man, who, following a tough season for both club and player, is likely to fetch significantly less this summer, £1.5 million having been reported to be Town's valuation.

League One football will do nothing to improve Bialkowski’s international prospects and despite having said he is happy at Town - and that he plans to live in Suffolk once he retires - a move back to the Championship is likely to appeal should one of the interested clubs firm up their interest.

Striker Ellis Harrison is among the other players also attracting clubs, although we understand Portsmouth, who were keen in January and earlier in the summer, have cooled in their interest. Blackburn were also eyeing the former Bristol Rovers man, as well as Kayden Jackson, in January.

Winger Gwion Edwards was linked with Hull City early in the summer, however, the Tigers have since parted company with manager Nigel Adkins.
