Knudsen: Thank You and All the Best for the Future - Ipswich Town News

Departing defender Jonas Knudsen has issued a farewell statement with his Blues career ending this summer.

The Danish international’s contract is up at the end of the month with Town not offering new terms, the 26-year-old having made it clear he wanted to move on in January if another club had come in.

Town received no interest but subsequently manager Paul Lambert rarely called on the left-back in the final months of the season. His last appearance was at West Brom early in March.

"As my time at Ipswich Town has now come to an end I would like to thank everyone in and around the club for the last four years. My family and I have enjoyed our time here in town!” Knudsen wrote on Instagram

"Unfortunately it did not end as I had hoped last season but I’m confident that the club will rise again.

"The fans are amazing and have supported us through all times both away and at Portman Road which I am amazed and really grateful about! I wish all the best for the club in the future!”

Knudsen, who cost Town £300,000 when he was signed from Esbjerg fB in July 2015, made 153 starts and two sub appearances for the Blues, scoring four times, two against Norwich.

He also appeared at last summer’s World Cup with Denmark, making his only appearance in their round of 16 defeat to eventual finalists Croatia.

Knudsen was linked with Stoke, Middlesbrough and West Brom during last season, as well as FC Copenhagen and FC Midtjylland in Denmark, while interest from German sides Fortuna Düsseldorf and Freiburg has also been reported.

All the best for the future, Jonas! 🔵⚪️
