Mayor Joins Plymouth - Ipswich Town News

Town target Danny Mayor has joined League Two Plymouth Argyle, the Pilgrims have confirmed.

Mayor, who officially became a free agent today with his Bury contract up at the end of June, is reunited with his former Shakers boss Ryan Lowe at Home Park.

The 28-year-old left winger spent time looking around Plymouth last Wednesday where he was offered terms, before taking a trip to Suffolk on Thursday as he continued talks with Town, while other clubs, including his former loan side Tranmere, were also believed to be keen. It’s unclear whether the Blues went as far as offering a contract.

Mayor says it was the chance to work with Lowe once again which persuaded him to move to the South-West.

"Everyone knows my relationship with the gaffer at Bury. There’s no doubt that he got the best out of me last season," he said.

"You just have to look at the stadium, the surroundings; it’s a wonderful set-up. That really sold it to me.”

Mayor’s decision to join Argyle means manager Paul Lambert will have to look elsewhere for a left-wised addition to his squad.
