Huws: I Feel Really Good - Ipswich Town News

Midfielder Emyr Huws says he feels really good having returned to first team action during pre-season after his lengthy lay-off with a knee injury.

The 25-year-old suffered the injury at Middlesbrough in December 2017 and underwent surgery. The Wales international was close to coming back a couple of times last season, playing for the U23s and was on one occasion on the bench for the first team, but each time hit a setback.

However, he has trained throughout the opening weeks of pre-season and played a half against Paderborn last week and yesterday’s opening 45-minute game against Fortuna Düsseldorf at the Interwetten Cup.

"I feel really good. I’ve worked hard and I’m chuffed that it’s paying off,” he told iFollow Ipswich.

"At the moment I feel I’m only going to get stronger and stronger and I’m looking forward to the season now and playing my part for the team.

"I have learnt so much from what has happened in the past. It’s been hard for my career but from what I have been through, I’m feeling better mentally and physically.

"A lot of things have come together and I’m just delighted to be back out there on the pitch again and with an Ipswich shirt on. I’ve missed it and now it’s about showing what I can do.”
