Town Launch New Schools Scheme - Ipswich Town News

Town have launched a new schools scheme aimed at Year 2 pupils in Ipswich and across Suffolk ahead of the new season entitled Class of Blues.

Introduced in addition to the School of the Day initiative which will continue during 2019/20, Class of Blues will see pupils from a particular primary school invited to Portman Road for a tour of the stadium with their visit also including an educational programme allowing the children to further their numeracy, literacy, speaking and listening skills in a football-related environment.

Pupils will receive a certificate commemorating their trip to Portman Road, as well as an adult and junior ticket to attend the next home fixture.

Suffolk Norse are partnering Town for the initiative and have agreed to be the schools transport provider conveying pupils to and from the stadium for the tour.

Class of Blues will initially be run over six games throughout the season, however, this club say this could be increased.

The six fixtures are Tranmere Rovers (Saturday 28th September), Bury (Saturday 2nd November), Accrington Stanley (Saturday 11th January), Peterborough United (Saturday 1st February), Coventry City (Saturday 7th March) and Southend United (Saturday 4th April) with tour dates likely to be the Wednesday preceding the fixture.
Town say it’s at their discretion which schools or academies are selected for the new scheme.
