Elliott Loan Move on Hold - Ipswich Town News

TWTD understands striker Tom Elliott’s loan move from Millwall is on hold due to the hamstring injury he suffered earlier this month in the Lions’ pre-season friendly against Concord Rangers.

The 28-year-old's recovery from the problem, reported to be a grade one strain at the time, had been expected to be further along the line at this point, so the switch has been temporarily put on hold.

Elliott was at Portman Road yesterday to undergo a medical and complete the formalities relating to his season-long switch.

TWTD revealed that the Blues were lining up a move for Elliott on Sunday, having first tried to sign him as part of a proposed renegotiation with Millwall after Bartosz Bialkowski's initial switch broke down last month.

It's likely Town will monitor progress on his injury in the weeks to come ahead of the end of the transfer window on September 2nd.

However, the Blues continue to be linked with another striking option, Blackburn's Joe Nuttall, and may well have other alternatives that they may now look to.

According to The Sun, Town could move for 22-year-old Nuttall, who is also believed to be interesting Blackpool.

Bury-born Nuttall, who is 6ft tall, started his career with Manchester City’s youth set-up before moving on to Aberdeen, during which time he had spells on loan at Stranraer and Dumbarton.

He joined Blackburn in 2017 and has made nine starts and 28 sub appearances for Tony Mowbray’s side, scoring eight goals.
