U23s Open Season at Home to Bolton, U18s Host Sheffield Wednesday - Ipswich Town News

Town’s U23s will start their Professional Development League Two South campaign with a game against Bolton Wanderers at Portman Road on Monday 12th August (KO 7pm), while the U18s will play their opening fixture against Sheffield Wednesday at Playford Road the following Saturday (KO 11am).

The U23s, who are coached by Gerard Nash and Chris Hogg, travel to Hull City the following Monday before Leeds visit a week later, another game which will be played at Portman Road.

The U18s play their second game at Sheffield United on Saturday 24th August before hosting Crewe Alexandra in their third game a week later.

Last season the U23s topped their table, while the U18s finished second in theirs.

Town moved level on points with second-placed Leeds United following a pulsating 3-3 draw with Hull City at the MKM Stadium having been in front three times. Returning striker George Hirst put the Blues in front in the 19th minute but the Tigers levelled on 40 through Ozan Tufan before Omari Hutchinson put Town back ahead with the first of two brilliant goals. However, Hull equalised again through Liam Delap in the 56th minute, then Hutchinson’s second put the Blues ahead again, however, Tigers sub Noah Ohio grabbed a point for the East Yorkshire side with three minutes remaining and the Blues were unable to take late chances to win it.
