Lambert: Only Right That Sears Was Given New Deal - Ipswich Town News
Town boss Paul Lambert believes it was only right that striker Freddie Sears was handed a new contract.
The 29-year-old put pen to paper on his new terms this week, despite being sidelined until November with an ACL injury.
"He was doing great for me and I’m only going by the short time that we've been here, he was doing really, really well and then he had an unfortunate injury,” Lambert said.
"I think he's a really good player, Freddie, a real threat. He's doing really well with his rehab so I think it was only right that Freddie [was given the contract].
Sears, whose new deal runs to 2021 with the club having an option for a further season, scored six times last season, all after Lambert had taken over as boss, before his season was curtailed by the injury in February.
