Town have announced a new five-year contract with Greene King which will see a specially brewed beer, 81 Pilsner, served in Beattie’s, which is to be formally opened this afternoon.

The contract, an extension of the previous five-year deal agreed in 2014, will see Greene King IPA and East Coast IPA continue to be poured at bars around Portman Road. Carling will now be the lager served around the stadium.

"Greene King, club sponsors from 1995 to 2001, and Carling have played a big role in the refurbishment of Beattie’s, previously Legends.

Family and former team-mates of Blues legend Kevin Beattie, who died last year aged 64, will be at the official opening later today.

Simon Edgar, Greene King’s head of sales for East Anglia, said: "We are thrilled to be renewing our partnership with Ipswich Town, continuing our long-running association with the club, and look forward to supplying our beers around the stadium for the new season.

"Greene King is a huge long-term supporter of sports clubs and associations throughout the UK and we are especially proud to be part of the refurbishment of Beattie’s - a tribute to a true Ipswich legend.”
