O'Neill: I Understand Why Dyer's Leaving - Ipswich Town News
Blues general manager of football operations Lee O’Neill says he fully understands why U18s assistant manager Kieron Dyer has decided to leave the club.
Former Town and England midfielder Dyer outlined the reasons behind his exit in an interview with TWTD.
"I think we’re disappointed because Kieron brings a lot to the academy but I 100 per cent understand the reasons why he wants to go and do it,” O'Neill, who is also the club's academy director, said.
"I think he used a great analogy when he said 'I want to go out on loan, I want to learn the industry, I want to get better and bring that back to the football club'.
"Who knows what’s going to happen in the future. All I can go on record and say is that he’s been a great asset to the academy, he’s worked incredibly hard over the last two years.
"I think I’ve seen a different side to Kieron, he’s worked very hard and I’m sure he’ll go on to big things. He just has to be patient with his coaching career.”
