Blues Face Premier League Competition for Trialist Castro - Ipswich Town News

Town trialist Quevin Castro has revealed he has received interest from Premier League sides Leicester and West Ham as he waits for the Blues to formally offer him a contract having impressed in his four-week spell at Playford Road.

Former Thetford Town midfielder Castro, who is 18 this month, played in the U23s friendlies at AFC Sudbury, in which he scored, Lowestoft Town and Maldon & Tiptree, as well as behind-closed-doors games against Tottenham and Arsenal.

According to the Bury Free Press, Portuguese-born Castro, who started his career in Sporting Lisbon's academy, has been offered a further eight-week spell with the Blues while the club look to have a one-year professional deal signed off by owner Marcus Evans.

However, Castro, the brother of Valter Rocha, top scorer in the Thurlow Nunn last season, and current Brecklander Telmo Rocha, says that while he’s keen to join Town there has been interest from Premier League clubs, which so far he has rebuffed.

"I do not know if I am going to take the eight weeks or not yet because there has been interest from bigger clubs,” he told the Free Press.

"I have been waiting for these past two weeks with them telling me they are going to give me an offer.

"Leicester City and West Ham have offered me trials and I have turned them away. I would love to stay at this club.”

Prior to joining up with the Town U23s Castro had been with National League club Sutton United for their pre-season preparations.
