Town to Enter Four County Cups - Ipswich Town News

Town have announced they will enter teams into four Suffolk county cups for the first time in 2019/20.

An XI - essentially the U18s team plus one or two U23s in previous seasons - will play in the newly-named Turners Hyundai Suffolk Premier Cup, playing all their games away as has been the case over the last few years, while Ipswich Town FC Women will defend the HomeStore Self Storage Suffolk Women’s Cup.

In addition, Town will also field their U18s in the CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup and their U16s in the Suffolk Boys’ U18 Midweek Cup, in which they will be playing for the first time and will face Coplestonians away in the first round.

Suffolk FA chief executive Richard Neal said: "How exciting it is that Ipswich Town will have three teams in Suffolk county cups for the 2019/20 season, indicating the standard of play within each of the competitions.

"The experience of playing in such highly-competitive fixtures will do the young ITFC players the world of good with their development, and I’m sure the opposing teams will find it equally beneficial.”

Lee O'Neill, Town's general manager of football operations, added: "As well as providing an opportunity for our younger players to continue their education in knock-out competition football, this will also be beneficial for the club's role in the community."

More details on the competitions can be found on the Suffolk FA website, with fixture details released in due course.
