Keane Delighted to Be Back - Ipswich Town News

Returning striker Will Keane says he’s delighted to be back at Portman Road having signed a one-year deal with an option for a further season.

"I spoke to quite a few clubs and there was interest there but I knew if I could sort a deal here this is the best place for me,” he told iFollow Ipswich.

"My time here last season was the biggest factor in me signing to be honest. Having been here and seeing the size of the club; having the chance to work with the manager as well.

"I have kept my eye on the results and saw 24,000 here for the Sunderland game and I thought ‘what a massive club’ and I was desperate to come back and be part of that.”

Keane ended last season with a hamstring injury which ultimately required surgery but he’s now over the three-month rehab, although he expects to need to play a couple of U23s matches before he is ready for the first team.

"The big thing for me is staying fit but I’m confident if I can do that I can be a big success here and help the team back to the Championship," he added.

"At the end of last season a lot of fans said to me ‘We hope to see you back here’ and I’m delighted I am back.

"I want to help get that winning feeling back. If we can get that momentum building it can spring us back into the Championship and hopefully we take off from there.”
