Town’s game at Rochdale on Saturday 7th September appears set to be postponed with new loanee Anthony Georgiou having been named in the Cyprus squad and Armando Dobra in the Albanian U19s.
League One clubs are able to to request the postponement of matches if they have three players receive international calls with younger levels, such as Albania's U19s, qualifying if the player involved has featured in 25 per cent of a side’s first-team matchday squads that season as Dobra has.
In addition to Dobra and Georgiou, Alan Judge was named in a provisional Republic of Ireland squad last week, while Idris El Mizouni is expected to be picked for the Tunisia U23s squad facing Cameroon in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Andre Dozzell and Flynn Downes could also be named in the England U20s squad, for whom they remain eligible.
Young keeper Adam Przybek, who has yet to be involved with the senior side, has already been called into the Wales U21s.
If the total of first-team calls hits three, as it is expected to with the final Ireland party and England U20 squad set to be named later this week, then we understand Town boss Paul Lambert will opt to postpone the trip to Spotland.
Georgiou’s Cyprus face Kazakhstan in Nicosia on Friday 6th September and away against San Marino in Serraville three days later in Euro 2020 qualifiers, while Dobra’s Albania U19s have two friendlies against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday 7th and Monday 9th September.
