Beattie Axed - Ipswich Town News

Town legend Kevin Beattie has been axed from his job as summariser on Radio Suffolk with another Town star of the past replacing him.

Former captain Mick Mills will be taking over the microphone for the season ahead as the Blues seek to gain promotion from Division One at the first attempt.

Beattie is understood to be unhappy at the decision while Mills is chuffed to have been given the job.

Mills, who has previously worked with Radio Five Live, was recently been scouting for Crystal Palace after leaving Birmingham along with Trevor Francis last year. It was Francis who offered him his role at Palace late last season.

Meanwhile Suffolk's other local radio station, SGR FM, is understood to have cut its coverage of Town down to virtually nothing.
