ITFC Women Face Kent Football United - Ipswich Town News

Ipswich Town Women are in action away against Kent Football United on Sunday afternoon (Glentworth Club, Dartford, KO 2pm).

The Tractor Girls will be looking for their first win of the season having drawn 1-1 with AFC Wimbledon in their opening FA Women's National League Division One South East game a fortnight ago. They will also be aiming to bounce back from last week’s 6-0 Women’s National League Cup defeat at Southampton.

Having fielded a much-changed side against the Saints, manager Joe Sheehan says there’ll be swtches of personnel again and believes his team is capable of finding the net regularly this season.

"I don’t think we conceded too many chances against Wimbledon so I think defensively we’re OK,” he said.

"We’ve got more than enough firepower to score bags of goals in wide areas and our centre-forwards I’m fairly confident with. I’ve no concerns with that, we’ll score plenty of goals this season.”

Following Sunday’s match, ITFC Women are in derby action against Norwich City at the Goldstar Ground, Felixstowe on Wednesday (KO 7.45pm).

Sheehan hopes a positive result against Kent Football United will help his side going into the game against the Canaries.

"Momentum is everything," he added. "It’s key and if we can get a good performance and three points it’ll certainly carry us on into the game on Wednesday."
