Wark: Just Like One of Mine! - Ipswich Town News
Blues legend John Wark felt Flynn Downes scored a goal reminiscent of many of his during his illustrious playing career.
Downes arrived late in the box in a manner familiar to Town supporters as he headed home Kayden Jackson’s pinpoint ball from the right following a fast-flowing move to seal Saturday's 3-0 victory over Shrewsbury.
"That goal reminded me of many of my own,” Wark enthused after the match havin congratulated Downes as he spoke to the media in the tunnel.
"It was the way the lads moved it from one end of the pitch to the other and he was so quick to spot what was on.
"He timed his run to perfection and Kayden did brilliantly to look up and see what was on. A great team goal.”
Wark, 62, remains a regular at Portman Road on matchdays working in a corporate lounge.
