Emmanuel Joins Bolton - Ipswich Town News

Right-back Josh Emmanuel has joined Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer on a deal to the end of the season, the Trotters have announced.

The 22-year-old was among those expected to leave Town ahead of today's 5pm deadline, although with a loan appearing more likely than a permanent exit, with Kane Vincent-Young and Janoi Donacien both ahead of him in the pecking order.

Emmanuel, whose Blues contract was due to run to next summer, made 24 starts and five sub appearances for Town without scoring.

Coincidentally, the Londoner is the last player to find the net in the league for Wanderers, having scored an own goal when the Blues won 2-1 at the University of Bolton Stadium in April.

Emmanuel, whose last Town game was the Carabao Cup tie at Luton, joined the academy as a schoolboy having previously been with West Ham's youth set-up.

While with the Blues Emmanuel spent time on loan at Crawley, Rotherham and Shrewsbury.

The full-back's departure, which went through very close to the 5pm deadline with the clubs concerned that it might not have made it in time, was the only business at Portman Road as the transfer window closed for clubs in Leagues One and Two.

Bolton made nine signings as they bolstered their squad following their takeover, including ex-Blues frontman Daryl Murphy on a free transfer from Nottingham Forest.

Their other seven signings are Thibaud Verlinden on loan from Stoke, Liam Bridcutt on loan from Forest, Will Buckley, who re-signed having left at the end of last season, Jake Wright on loan from Sheffield United, Ali Crawford from Doncaster, Chris O'Grady, who had been released by Oldham, and Joe Bunney, whose contract at Northampton was terminated.
