Richards Sets Target - Ipswich Town News
Young Town full-back Matt Richards says he is targeting a break into the first team by the end of the season. Richards, 17, came on as a sub at Brentford last night after impressing in the reserves last year and in pre-season.
The Town number 32 shirt told the club site: "By the end of the season though, I would like to be in a position where I can be pushing for a place in the first-team squad.
"You see what Darren Bent and Darren Ambrose have achieved by progressing through the ranks here and that inspires you to follow that lead."
Richards, from Harlow, is initially looking at establishing himself further in the Town reserve side which won the FA Premier League (South) championship last season.
