Skipper Grabs Last-Gasp Winner for ITFC Women - Ipswich Town News

ITFC Women continued their run of winning form by beating Actonians 3-2 at the Goldstar Ground, Felixstowe on Sunday afternoon, skipper Amanda Crump grabbing a last-gasp winner following a late visitors' leveller after Sophie Peskett and Natasha Thomas had given the Blues a two-goal lead.

Peskett put the Tractor Girls in front in only the sixth minute, following-up after a Crump shot had been blocked.

The scoreline remained the same until the 67th minute when Thomas made it 2-0 when she shot over the keeper’s head from the right of the area.

Thomas almost made it three soon afterwards but hit the bar and in the 78th minute Actonians pulled a goal back.

Town struck the bar again, this time through Peskett, before Actonians levelled with only two scheduled minutes remaining.

But the Blues weren’t to be denied their third win on the trot. From the kick-off Town went straight up the other end and sub Zoe Barratt found Crump, who slipped past the keeper to seal the three points.

"What a week for us,” manager Joe Sheehan reflected afterwards. "From the elation of Wednesday’s derby win in front of 761 supporters to almost having to settle for a point today before scoring a last gasp winner.

"A real testing period both physically and emotionally but delighted with the outcomes.”

The victory sees the Tractor Girls climb to second in the FA WNL Division One South East table on goal difference along behind leaders Billericay Town.

ITFC Women: Jackson, Pannifer Hubbard, Wilson, Thomas (Barratt 74), Crump (c), Cossey (Biggs 57), Cooper, Wakefield (Sutherland 65), Peake, Peskett. Unused: Clarke, Egan. Att: 207.
