U18s Host Barnsley - Ipswich Town News

Town’s U18s are in home action against Barnsley at Playford Road on Saturday afternoon (KO 1pm).

Like the first team, the young Blues have made an unbeaten start to their season and currently stand third in the Professional Development League Two South table having played a game fewer than Watford and Charlton above them.

U18s striker Colin Oppong joined Bury Town on loan last week and was involved in the opening goal in last Saturday’s 2-2 Velocity Trophy game at Heybridge Swifts, his effort against the post having been netted on the rebound.

"He is more of a target man which is new to what we already have in the building," Bury boss Ben Chenery told the Bury Free Press.

"He was excellent against Heybridge and led the line well and I was really impressed with him.

"I am looking forward to working with him and thank Ipswich Town for letting him come and develop further with us.”

Meanwhile, a Town U16s side, although with a number of first-year scholars featuring, won 11-0 away against Coplestonians U18s in the Suffolk FA Boys' U18 Midweek Cup on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, the U23s are next in action on Monday when they take on Burnley at Curzon Ashton’s Tameside Stadium (KO 1pm).
