ITFC Women Fans' Group Launched - Ipswich Town News

Tractor Girls on Tour is a new fans’ group which has been launched to help build the atmosphere at Ipswich Town Women’s matches.

The group was instigated by Tom Whitby and in only just over a week its Twitter account, @TGOT2019, has gained more than 1,000 followers.

Speaking on Saturday’s Life’s a Pitch on BBC Radio Suffolk (1hr 15mins 35secs) , Tom outlined the thinking behind Tractor Girls on Tour.

"We want to create an atmosphere, more so because in the women’s game you never really see people trying to create an atmosphere,” he said.

"It’s usually quite quiet, we just want to try and bring something new into the women’s game and be unique.”

Attendances at ITFC Women’s games, around 40-50 last season, have grown this season with the opening home match of the season at the Goldstar Ground, Felixstowe watched by 150, then their biggest-ever crowd of 761 saw the 4-1 derby defeat of Norwich City. Last weekend’s 3-2 victory over Actonians was watched by 207.

"We’re behind the goal that the girls are shooting towards, trying suck the ball into the net," Tom continued.

"We’ve got flags made up and we’re just trying to make a load of noise. We’ve got loads of songs as well."

He added: "There’s nothing like it in the women’s game so we want to be pioneers and start something new.”
