Lambert Delighted to See Huws and Nolan Return - Ipswich Town News

Town manager Paul Lambert is pleased to have midfield duo Emyr Huws and Jon Nolan available again after injuries and back in his side.

Huws started his first league game since the final day of the 2016/17 season at the MK Dons last week after lengthy struggles with a knee injury.

In total the midfielder, 25, has made three starts and three sub appearances in all competitions in the first couple of months of this season as Town have looked to take his comeback slowly after such a lengthy absence.

Nolan suffered a calf injury towards the end of last season and then another similar problem on the other calf in pre-season before making his return as a late sub in the 3-0 victory over his old side Shrewsbury.

The 27-year-old subsequently made his first start of the campaign in the Leasing.com Trophy game against Tottenham’s U21s and then scored as he made his first League One start of the season in the 1-0 win at Stadium MK.

"Nolan has been terrific since I came to the club, he’s been great. A great goalscorer from midfield,” Lambert said.

"Emyr, I’m delighted for him to get back to what he was because it’s been a horrendous time for him, stop-start, stop-start over nearly a two-year period.

"For the mind it’s not great, for him it’s not great. The way he played at the MK Dons for that hour, I was really pleased.

"He had another half hour on Saturday [at Gillingham]. I was delighted when he came on again. It’s just about building him up every game and he and Nolan are huge attributes for us.”
