Norwood to Undergo Operation - Ipswich Town News
Town boss Paul Lambert says striker James Norwood will undergo a minor operation on his groin but expects him to be fit for the Blues’ next League One game at Accrington in a fortnight.
Norwood, who was subbed in the 71st minute during today’s 1-0 win at Fleetwood due to the injury, has been suffering with the problem since he was with Tranmere and has been nursed through the last few games.
"James will need a little operation I think, which hopefully [won’t keep him out for] too long.” Lambert said.
"He needs it done. If we could get him through the game last week and this game then it was always the plan to get a little nick and hopefully he’ll be fit for Accrington.
"It’s only a small thing but it’s been enough to hinder the lad. Once he gets that done I’m sure he’ll be right as rain.”
He added: "It’s just a wee nerve thing in the groin that he needs to get sorted. When that’s healed he will be OK.”
Kane Vincent-Young was subbed at half-time against the Cod Army as a precaution, also due to a groin problem.
"Kane [came off] for a little groin injury so we couldn’t take the risk with him, the break has come at the right time," Lambert said. "One or two lads have been carrying a little bit.”
