Sunderland and Peterborough United are reportedly eyeing Blues centre-half James Wilson, whose short-term deal is up on New Year’s Day.
According to Football Insider, the Black Cats, who are currently without a manager having sacked boss Jack Ross earlier in the week, and Posh are keeping tabs on the 30-year-old due to his contract situation and could target the Welshman in the January window.
Wilson joined the Blues in the summer following a trial having left Lincoln by mutual consent and has enjoyed an impressive first couple of months at Portman Road.
Speaking last week, manager Paul Lambert said extending Wilson’s deal needs to be addressed.
"He's certainly doing himself no harm whatsoever,” he said. "And I'm pretty sure it's something we need to look at.”
