Wilson: I'd Love to Stay at Town - Ipswich Town News

Central defender James Wilson says he’d love to stay with the Blues beyond the end of his short-term contract, which is up on New Year’s Day, but that no discussions have yet taken place.

"I'd love to stay," he told the club site. "There haven't been any discussions yet but hopefully it will get sorted, that's what I'd like to happen. There's no place I'd rather be right now.”

Speaking about extending the 30-year-old’s deal earlier this month, manager Paul Lambert said: "He's certainly doing himself no harm whatsoever and I'm pretty sure it's something we need to look at.”

Wilson joined the Blues in the summer following a trial having left Sincil Bank by mutual consent earlier in the close season.

Having made his debut on the opening day at Burton, the Wales international has now taken his appearance total to nine starts.

However, the one-time Bristol City trainee will miss Sunday’s live Sky game at Accrington Stanley as he is suspended following his red card at Fleetwood the weekend before last.

"I was gutted because I know I was on a booking but I didn't think I did enough to justify getting sent off," he added.

"That was frustrating but there are plenty of games still to go and hopefully I can play my part going forward."
