ITFC Women Strike Late to Return to Top - Ipswich Town News

Natasha Thomas hit a 94th-minute winner as Ipswich Town Women returned to the top of FAWNL Division One South East by coming from behind to beat Enfield Town Ladies 2-1 at the QE Stadium this afternoon.

The home side took the lead in 10 minutes before the break, then five minutes later Thomas saw a goal ruled out for a push by Lucy Egan.

The Tractor Girls had to wait until the 62nd minute to level when Maddie Biggs stabbed home from Thomas’s header four minutes after coming on as a sub.

The Blues pushed for the winner which finally came four minutes into injury time, Thomas seizing on a mix-up in the Enfield defence and tapping into the net.

Today’s win takes Town three points clear at the top of the table, the match having been the Blues’ game in hand with none of the other top teams in action.

The Tractor Girls are next in action in the Women’s FA Cup against Basildon at the Goldstar Ground, Felixstowe next Sunday (KO 1pm).

Town: Runnacles, Pannifer, Hubbard, Egan, Thomas, Crump (c), Lafayette, Grey, Peake, Peskett, Sutherland (Biggs 58). Unused: Biggs, Dunn, Cooper, Wakefield, Barratt.
