Lambert: Winning Games is a Nice Habit - Ipswich Town News

Boss Paul Lambert is looking for the Blues continue their winning form when they face Lincoln City in the first round of the FA Cup at Portman Road on Saturday.

While Lambert will be fielding a much-changed side, as he has consistently done in cup competitions this season, he is still looking for a victory and the club’s first win in the FA Cup for almost 10 years.

"It’s a fantastic competition, the FA Cup, and we will be approaching the game like we do every match, looking to win it and progress,” the Town boss writes in his column for Saturday’s match programme.

"Winning games of football is a nice habit to have, whatever the competition. There will be a few changes to the team that won at Rochdale in the week.

"We have got players who need game time but whoever pulls on an Ipswich Town shirt, I trust them to do a good job for the team.”

The Blues will be playing at the first round stage of the competition they won in 1978 for the first time since the 1956/57 campaign when they defeated Hastings United 4-0 at Portman Road.

Town last won an FA Cup tie back in January 2010 when they beat Blackpool 2-1 in the third round at Bloomfield Road during Roy Keane’s time in charge.

Since then they have played 14 matches in the competition, four draws and 10 defeats.

Last season they were beaten 1-0 by Accrington Stanley at the Crown Ground.

The club are anticipating a crowd of around 10,000 for Saturday's match with large sections of the ground closed. Tickets are priced at £10 for adults, seniors 65+ and under-23s £5 and under-19s £2. Full details here.
