ITFC Women Cruise Into FA Cup Second Round - Ipswich Town News

Ipswich Town Women cruised into the second round of the Women’s FA Cup after defeating AFC Basildon 5-0 at the Goldstar Ground, Felixstowe this afternoon.

The Tractor Girls went ahead via Paige Peake’s freekick in the 16th minute then, having had a number of earlier chances to add to their lead, made it 2-0 on 33 through Sophie Peskett’s solo effort.

Natasha Thomas made it 3-0 in the final minute of the half after good work from Peskett.

Town had to wait until the 83rd minute for their fourth when Abbie Lafayette turned Peake’s corner home at the far post, then Zoe Cossey completed the scoring with two minutes remaining.

The Tractor Girls are in action again when they take on AFC Kesgrave away in the County Cup next Sunday (KO 2.30pm).

Town: Runnacles, Hubbard, Wilson, Thomas, Crump (c), Cooper, Lafayette, Grey (Rossiter 77), Peake, Peskett (Cossey 68), Sutherland (Dunn 59). Unused: Jackson, Pannifer Biggs. Att: 175.

Devastating news once again, but an incredibly strong person that has such a positive impact on our football club. She’ll get through it and we will support her every step of the way. https://t.co/4WBvqgMtS2– Joe Sheehan (@joe_sheehan1) November 10, 2019
