Town boss Paul Lambert has revealed that right-back Kane Vincent-Young is facing months on the sidelines with a new groin injury.
The 23-year-old was expected to return to action this week after undergoing groin surgery last month but has suffered a new problem.
"He’s going to be out for a right long time, I think,” Lambert said. "I’ve just found out myself so I’ll need to find out [more], but he’s going to be out for a while.
"It’s a different injury to what he had. It’s come from the Southend game, it’s just happened. It’s up in the groin, I think it’s in the adductor area, which is going to be a bit of a blow.
"It’ll be a few months, I think. Not the end of the season, he’ll be back before that but it’ll be after the new year for sure.”
Lambert admitted the loss of the former Colchester man, who has made a huge impression since signing from the Essex club, is a big blow.
"Yes, absolutely, but Janoi Donacien’s come in and been excellent for us,” he added. "We’ll just have to get on with that and Kane I’m pretty sure will get on with it as well and get back as quick as he can.”
Lambert also confirmed that Flynn Downes missed tonight’s match due to illness rather than an injury.
"He had a virus, he wasn’t well,” he said. "That was a blow because he’s been excellent, but Emyr Huws went in and did really well, really, really well. Norwood’s come back, not done much training, that was a bonus. One or two are coming back.”
