Town Talking to Everton About Garbutt's Future - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Paul Lambert has revealed that the Blues are talking to Everton regarding on-loan left-back Luke Garbutt's future.

The 26-year-old has had a very impressive season so far and has scored five goals, the latest of which in Tuesday’s FA Cup defeat to Coventry.

Asked whether he would like to get something longer term sorted with the former England U16, U17, U18, U19, U20 and U21 international with his Goodison Park contract up in the summer, he said discussions are ongoing.

”I think [general manager of football operations] Lee [O’Neill] is talking to Everton already,” he said.

"I think he’s done great, he’s scored five I think from more or less left-back which is an incredible return, so I’m really happy with his contribution since he’s been here.”

Lambert admitted that other clubs may also be taking note of Garbutt’s performances for the Blues.

"They could do,” he said. "But I think Luke really enjoys it here. He’s playing in front of big crowds every week, but a lot will depend on Everton, a lot will depend on Luke.”
