Weekend Links - Ipswich Town News

A number of old links have resurfaced in this weekend's papers. Amongst them is another claim that Fulham are interested in Marcus Bent.

Previously there have been reports that the Cottagers had made £5 million and £2 million-plus-Barry Hayles offers for the striker, both of which were denied by Town. The latest report claims that a £4 million deal is on the cards, but that Fulham need to sell first, presuambly Barry Hayles who has been linked with West Brom.

Also interesting West Brom, according to the tabloids, is Marcus Stewart. This story has appeared a number of times during the summer, but has so far had no substance to it.

Town are amongst a number of clubs being linked with Crewe striker Dean Ashton. The Blues have long been reported to have an interest in the England U19-man but with the finances as they are at present only the exit of a number of strikers for decent fees would see a bid from the Blues a reasonable prospect.

Former Town striker David Johnson is said to be a one-year loan target of West Ham. Glenn Roeder and his assistant, ex-Town man Paul Goddard, are said to be keen on Johnson, who scored for Forest yesterday, and Man City striker Shaun Goater.
