Villa Contact Confirmed - Ipswich Town News

Town manager George Burley has confirmed that Aston Villa have made their interest in Matt Holland clear to the Blues. Earlier TWTD reported that Town and the Midlands club are in talks regarding Holland's future.

Burley said: "Villa have made it clear there is an interest in Matt. But they are looking at other players as well and, as yet, there has been no bid and nothing has materialised.

"The reality of the situation, as I have said before, is that we have to listen to offers.

"I would love to keep all my players but in the present financial climate that is not possible. We will just have to wait and see what materialises."

Villa manager Graham Taylor is keen to strengthen his midfield and watched Town beat Walsall on the opening day of the season. He also had scouts at Town's 6-1 victory over Leicester on Sunday.

Holland's former club Bournemouth will receive 25% of any profit Town make on the £800,000 they paid the Dean Court club back in the summer of 1997.

A fee of somewhere around the £4 million-plus mark looks likely.
