Fulham to Bid for Bent? - Ipswich Town News
Fulham could find themselves in a position where they can bid for Marcus Bent with a number of players looking like they are on their way out of Craven Cottage. Reports at the weekend suggested that while Jean Tigana was keen to get Bent on board, he needed to sell before he could buy.
American midfielder Eddie Lewis looks set to join Preston while Jon Harley has been told he can leave on loan.
Barry Hayles is also rumoured to be moving on, West Brom his reported destination, so by the end of the transfer window on August 31st Tigana could be ready to swoop.
Recently London sources reported that Town had turned down a bid of £2 million-plus-Barry Hayles for Bent, however George Burley has denied any bid from the Cottagers. Bent's value has recently been set at anything from £3 million to £5 million.
Even with Matt Holland looking as if he's on his way to Villa, Town are still likely to accept decent-sized offers for highly-paid players in order to reduce their outgoings.
