Noise a Factor - Gaardsøe - Ipswich Town News

Town defender Thomas Gaardsøe says that the new North Stand's noise could be crucial as Town seek to gain promotion at the first attempt. Meanwhile striker Darren Bent is angry at missing a number of chances on Sunday.

Gaardsøe was impressed with the fans' contribution to the Blues' stunning victory on Sunday, telling the Colchester Evening Gazette: "I think the new stand and extra noise it generates could be a big factor for us. I want this team to be successful for our fans.

"I was so pleased for them at the weekend because the noise they created was very special.

"The atmosphere was amazing and that really spurred us on so they deserve some of the credit.

"Winning by such a big margin was very nice. We couldn't have asked for any more and hopefully we can use it as a platform."

Darren Bent was kicking himself for failing to score during Sunday's Fox slaughter: "I was so pleased for the lads but cross and gutted with myself for missing my chances.

"It would have been nice to score my first goals in front of such a big home crowd, but I'll have to be patient.

"I missed a chance in the first half but the one after the break was even worse, as I was one-on-one after being put through by Finidi.

"That's the kind of thing I practice every day in training, so it was really disappointing to mess-up when it really mattered."
