Older Git's Reserves View - Ipswich Town News

Old Git was out of service this evening, so his father, Older Git, took over the reins. Here's his view of the game.

The game was played at a good pace, both teams attacked well but were hampered by good defence.

In the 11th minute Chelsea scored through a free-kick. Pullen took a long free-kick which amounted to little more than nothing, then Chelsea were in turn awarded a free kick of their own, and they managed to find the net. 1-0

In the 18th minute a corner was taken by Ipswich, which resulted in a free kick for Ipswich 3/4 of the way up the field. This was cleared by the Chelsea goalkeeper and an Ipswich player was upended in the box. This forced a penalty, and the initial shot was saved, but Nabil Abidallah came to the rescue and knocked it in, for 1-1.

Lots of good football followed from both teams yet in the 32nd minute Chelsea gained the lead. Joel Kitamirike (is this really the right spelling?) combined with Sebastian Kneissl, who was frighteningly speedy.

It should be noted that Richard Naylor worked very hard with Matt Robinson, so there I've mentioned him.

Ipswich's 2nd goal was a blur, which is a nice way of saying that I was looking the other way at the time.

At half time the score was 2-2.

At 8:02 the players returned, rejuvenated and fought back with a lot of attacks and counter attacks, players were caught in the cross-fire, rescued, and taken off injured.

Lee Beevers replaced Westlake.

Several attacks by both sides came to nothing, until the 94th minute when Ipswich were reconciled with a winning goal by Mr Lard himself, Richard Logan. Old Git will be pleased.

Old Git's Old Git estimated an attendance of 2,000.
