Matt in Squad - Burley - Ipswich Town News

Town boss George Burley says Matt Holland is in his squad for Saturday's clash with Millwall. Holland flew back to Stansted yesterday afternoon and will be in the Town line-up.

Burley said of his captain yesterday: "At the moment Matt Holland is very much an Ipswich Town player. He hasn't agreed any personal terms with Villa, he's on his way back and arrives at Stansted at 4pm and is in the squad for Saturday."

The Town manager has good and bad news on the injury front. Jim Magilton has recovered from his groin strain and trained today as did Marcus Bent.

The striker picked up a hamstring injury at Walsall and is contention for a place on Saturday after impressing at the Bescot Stadium on the season's opening day: "Marcus is a very good player, but saying that we had a tremendous 6-1 win without him on Sunday.

"We've got a good squad of players, bang in form, but there's four or five out at the moment so it would be nice to get one or two back. We're hopeful Marcus will be available for Saturday."

On the bad side, almost certainly out is Mark Venus who took a knock to the thigh against Leicester while the others on the sidelines at present are John McGreal (ankle), Chris Makin (thigh), Martijn Reuser (knee), Keith Branagan (recovering from shoulder surgery) and Wayne Brown (shoulder).

Ulrich Le Pen injured his ankle yesterday in the reserve game against Chelsea but Burley says there is no break and it is not thought to be a serious problem. The same goes for Ian Westlake who limped off with a knee problem in the second half.

Town's weekend opponents Millwall have not had quite the start to the season they would have hoped for. However, that doesn't mean Town are going to get over-confident: "The season has just started, Millwall had a tremendous season last year and just missed out on the play-offs.

"They have had a slow start, but that will make them doubly determined to get the right result on Saturday.

"We're not going there thinking it will be an easy game as we know it will be tough. We played them in the Worthington Cup two years ago and got beaten 2-0, so we're not taking anything for granted.

"But at the moment we are on good form, we've won all our three games we've played in this season and had a good pre-season.

"We are certainly very focused and know it will be a very tough game against Millwall, and hopefully can keep our run going."
