League One clubs are set to meet again next week after no firm outcome on the future of the 2019/20 was reached at this morning’s conference call.
The clubs are split into two factions, a majority of sides who want the season cut short and settled by one of a number of proposed methods, and an increasingly vocal six, including the Blues, who still want the campaign played to its completion if it is possible.
Therefore, it's probably not entirely surprising that a decision wasn't reached at today's two-and-a-quarter-hour meeting.
The 23 clubs will now meet again next week to discuss the matter further.
Meanwhile, League Two clubs have agreed to cancel the rest of their 2019/20 campaign with the table set to be decided via an unweighted points-per-game system but with play-off semi-finals and final taking place. An indicative vote is understood to have been unanimous.
The top three - Swindon Town, Crewe Alexandra and Plymouth Argyle - would be promoted to League One plus the winner of the play-offs but no one will be relegated to the National League. The decision will require formal ratification by the EFL board.
