Stewart Mackems Link - Ipswich Town News

Marcus Stewart is yet again being linked with a move to Peter Reid's Sunderland. All summer the Black Cats have been reported to be after the Town striker, but so far, with no official confirmation.

The latest quoted price is £1.5 million and again it is suggested that Stewart would be brought in as a replacement for Kevin Phillips if he completes his long reported move to Spurs.

Sunderland have been linked with virtually every striker in Europe this summer and are currently involved in discussions regarding Ajax's Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Pierre-Yves André from Nantes.

If Peter Reid is interested in Stewart then he'll have to be quick as the transfer window ends at 5pm on Saturday.

David Sheepshanks says the Blues have not had any new offers but continues to say that there could be some transfer action at Portman Road before the deadline is up.

Town will go into Thursday's UEFA Cup qualifying round second leg with three players returning from injury.

John McGreal, Martijn Reuser and Wayne Brown are all in the frame after ankle, groin and shoulder problems respectively.

However, Mark Venus, Chris Makin and Alun Armstrong are all out, although Venus is likely to be OK for the Preston match on Sunday.
