Town manager George Burley has confirmed that Marcus Stewart is in the North-East, is having a medical and is discussing terms. Burley added that he thought his side learnt from the disappointing away game in Luxembourg.
The Blues' boss said this evening: "Marcus is up at Sumderland at the moment having a medical and discussing personal terms so we'll have to wait to see what the outcome of that is."
He was unsurprisingly pleased with his side's performance against Avenir Beggen: "We found it very difficult to break them down over in Luxembourg. They were well organised and got a lot of people behind the ball, but we scored a late goal to win 1-0.
"But tonight I think we learned from that, we created a lot more space, we passed it better, we got the ball to the strikers' feet more and it was good to score eight goals.
"Another great turn-out from the fans, over 17,000 people which was fantastic, and once again the people of Ipswich have taken to European football."
