Town skipper Matt Holland has welcomed the appointment of Kenny Cunningham as the new Irish captain. Holland's name had been one of several possibles mentioned, however, he is more than pleased with Mick McCarthy's decision.

Holland said: "Kenny's a great guy and deserves to be captain.

"To be honest I didn't expect to be in the frame so I can't be disappointed."
